This, from a friend of mine. Please, UK people, take action now, as Guy is set to be deported tomorrow.Thanks.

You can read the story on the New Statesman website link below, or just the following synopsis:

Nice guy gets here 9 years ago from Cameroon after being tortured applies for asylum gets job at Selfridges food court does Human Rights degree volunteers at various refugee places and is general good egg claim gets rejected applies again hears nothing goes along to routine appointment is detained stuck in police cell and is being deported on Saturday.

Please go sign the petition and forward this on to as many people in the UK as you can.

EDIT, 15:28:

I've just received the following message:

Just to let you know that the deportation order has been cancelled for tomorrow. I would stress that is only a small victory as this is the normal procedure when an application for judicial review has been submitted. However, it does mean that we now have more time to continue with the other activities.

Kirrily has been asked by the caseworker at Jeremy Corbyn's office to pass on that they cannot reply to everyones' emails but they have been received. Any further information will be passed out through this network and on the facebook group and the blog.

Kirrily has just seen Guy and he passes on his deepest thanks. He is very overwhelmed by all the support he is receiving.

Thank you everyone for all that you have done so far, carry on emailing/faxing Jacqui Smith and your own MP (re. Sara's email today) and keep on circulating the petition link to family and friends.

alfituri: participating in a questionnaire

My name is Abdel Alfituri, and I am a Masters student at Napier University in Edinburgh, Scotland, writing a dissertation on blogging.

The study aims to identify the motivations that lead bloggers to create and maintain their blogs, and to assess how these differ in different parts of the world.

The success of the project is completely dependent on sufficient numbers of active bloggers agreeing to take a few minutes to complete a short questionnaire. This has been designed to have as few questions as possible, while also collecting useful data on which I can base my analysis.

You can be reassured that the data is collected and held completely anonymously – I only require some very basic information about yourself (e.g. age, gender).

If you could spare me a little time to complete the questionnaire I would be very grateful. If you would like to find out more information about the project then please contact me on 05014886@napier.ac.uk, or else my supervisor, Dr Colin Smith, at cf.smith@napier.ac.uk

Please click on the link below to access the questionnaire

With many thanks

Abdel Alfituri
